AnantnagA meeting of prominent clerics from across South Kashmir was held here on Wednesday to deliberate upon the rising attacks on Kashmiri Muslim women.
The meeting was chaired by Mirwaiz of South Kashmir, Qazi Ahmed Yasir.
Earlier police tried to foil the meeting and raided the Qazi Mohalla residence of Mirwaiz during morning hours. However Qazi Yasir was not at home.
He reached home at around 11.15 AM against the scheduled time of 11AM giving slip to a large number of policemen deployed there, a spokesman of Ummat-e-Islami said.
The Police had sealed the area and many clerics were disallowed to enter the residence of Mirwaiz Qazi Yasir.
At least 150 clerics including Moulana Mubarak from Rehat Dedi Masid, Altaf Nadwi, Mufti Zia ul Haq from Bijbehara, Umar Attari and Showkat Noorpuri from Tral, Mufti Tariq, Mufti Aadil and Yawar Barkati from Shopian, Irshad Attari, Qari Javaid, Reyaz Noori from Pulwama; Fayaz Amjidi, Geelani Syed Tariq from Kokernag; Fayaz Amjadi, Reyaz Ahmed, Qazi Irshad from Achbal; Rameez Qadri from Mattan; Aabid Qadri, Arif Attari from Qazigund Kund and others
The clerics unanimously decided that they will collectively fight for a common minimum programme and will fight for the religious and social rights of Kashmir people. The clerics from almost all areas of South Kashmir decided that they will stay united in all the times to come and collectively fight against the issues which the Kashmiri society faces. The clerics said that any move of the state to divide various schools of thoughts will be strongly fought against and all of the schools of thoughts in Kashmir stand as one. We will not let anyone benefit from our differences, Qazi Yasir vowed.
The clerics also passed a resolution to work on a common programme and formed South Kashmir Clerics and Preachers Association.
Mirwaiz Qazi Yasir said that there is an urgent need for the Ummah to unite under one single banner. This unity will be issue based, Mirwaiz Qazi Yasir said. Mirwaiz Yasir said that it is clerics who can unite masses. They have a great responsibility towards the society for not letting them stand divided, Mirwaiz Said.
Mirwaiz Yasir while commenting on braid chopping said, he has access to medical reports where it has been exclusively mentioned that sprays have been used against the victims of braid chopping. He said moreover the pattern of the incidents proves it is something beyond what the state has been telling us.
