SrinagarThe alleged negligence of R&B department Wednesday took life of a biker after he fell into an open pit while driving on the Ladoora-Achabal road.
Locals said the R&B sub division Watergam department is undertaking road widening of the Ladoora-Achabal road and a culvert has been dug at approx 8/10 in size with six feet depth. The R&B officials have left the deep pit open without any signboard or barricade that would give a prior signal to a driver. Yesterday at around 7:00 pm a motorcyclist Manmeet Singh (26) of Chak Kanispora Baramulla lost his life when he fell into the pit dug by the R&B dept, they said.
The deceased was the lone bread earner for his family leaving behind old aged parents, a sister and a brother. He was a technician. His father is on dialysis.
A case has been registered in Police Post Watergam and investigation taken up.
AEE Rafiabad however that the biker was drunk. He had already hit someone on the road before he met with an accident. We are now looking for the person whom the biker had hit, he said. (KNS)
