ShopianUnknown persons on Thursday lobbed a grenade on the house of MLA Wachi Aijaz Ahmad Mir, also a senior leader of ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Official sources said that suspected militants at around 5:10 pm hurled the grenade which exploded in the compound of the MLA’s House in Zainpora area of volatile south Kashmir district of Shopian.
The security guards retaliated with firing. However no one suffered injuries in the incident.
Soon after the attack government forces immediately launched searches to nab the attackers.
Grenade attack comes days after a well-known PDP activist from Wachi constituency was killed by militants and his house set ablaze by angry protesters at Imam Sahab Shopian in retaliation for the death of a militant in a scuffle with the family of the slain PDP leader.
