Srinagar On the second day of the International Conference on whither the global village: Is globalization in Retreat organised by the Department of Politics and Governance, Central University of Kashmir (CUK) at Nowgam-I academic block here, five technical sessions were held on Saturday.
The sessions were held on the themes: Evolving role of Diasporic communities, Perils and possibilities for Developing countries in a changing World, Globalism vs Nationalism, Education and Human Rights: Evolving Perspectives, Xenophobia, Security and Globalization and Remapping Gender Beyond Globalization.
Vice-chancellor, Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir, Director, Research and Development, Prof. Abdul Gani, Director, Campus-I and IQAC, Prof. N A Nadeem, Dean School of Social Sciences, Prof. N A Baba, and Coordinator, Politics and Governance Department and Conference convener, Dr. Abhiruchi Ojha, participants, faculty members and students attended the valedictory function.
Addressing the participants, Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir, hailed the department for holding the conference and said that several contemporary issues related to the globalization have been debated and discussed threadbare during the technical sessions. He said both days have been refreshing for the students as it provided them a new form of learning experience and a platform to interact with the intellectuals in their subject. Vice-Chancellor further assured full support to the department for organizing such conference in future.
Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir thanked the guests from the State of Jammu and Kashmir, other parts of the country and the world for participating in the conference and urged them to visit the varsity again.
Director, Research and Development, Prof. Abdul Gani, while speaking on the occasion also appreciated the Department faculty and students for putting in their best efforts in making the conference a huge success. He said the topics discussed during the sessions were highly informative and enlightening. He further stated that globalization has brought much to us, which can be viewed in both ways, that is positively as well as negatively.
Coordinator, Politics and Governance Department and Conference convener, Dr. Abhiruchi Ojha, thanked the Vice-Chancellor, faculty members, university administration and the students for their overall support in holding the event.
