DadriFifteen youth accused in the lynching of Mohammad Akhlaq in Bishahra village of Dadri have landed contractual jobs with Dadris National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC).
In September 2015, Mohammad Akhlaq and his son Danish were dragged out of their house and attacked by a mob on suspicion that they had slaughtered a cow and stored its meat in their house. Akhlaq succumbed to the injuries and the incident had evoked a huge outcry with some Sahitya Akademi award-winning authors returning their prizes in protest.
Nineteen people were arrested over the murder and one of them, Ravin Sisodia, died in the jail of multiple organ failure. The remaining accused have managed to secure bail.
According to a report in The Hindu, BJP MLA Tejpal Singh Nagar facilitated the recruitment of the 15 youngsters in a meeting with senior NTPC officials on October 9.
An NTPC spokesperson confirming the job offers said to The Hindu, Yes, we have agreed to give jobs to unemployed youths of Bishahra. It has nothing to do with Akhlaqs lynching”.
The spokesperson said that contractual jobs have been offered to many residents of Bishahra according to NTPCs policy to give jobs to all project-affected persons based on their qualification and expertise.
Tejpal Singh Nagar speaking to CNN News 18 said, The boy who died (Ravin Sisodia), his wife will get a job in a primary school within a month and a compensation of Rs 8 lakh, of which Rs 5 lakh will be a single payment and the rest will come from collections made at local level.”
