SrinagarThe Jammu and Kashmir State Forest Corporation (JKSFC) has earned an amount of Rs 55.42 crore up to ending September 2017, from sale of 8.85 Lakh cfts of timber to the consumers of S& M Circle Kashmir during the current year.
This information was given by the Corporation in a meeting held under the Chairmanship of Minister of State for Forest, Environment, Animal & Sheep Husbandry, Fisheries and Cooperative, Mir Zahoor Ahmad here Thursday. The meeting was convened to review the overall activities of the SFC besides taking stock of timber and firewood stock position in the Kashmir Division.
The authorities of JKSFC briefed the meeting about the functioning and financial achievements registered by the Corporation.Detailed discussions were also held on supply position of firewood, sale and auction of timber, budgetary support, marking fallen trees, transportation and extraction of timber, besides labour component.
While reviewing stock position of timber at different Sale Depots, it was informed in the meeting that 4.95 lakh cft, timber has been dumped, 4.25 lakh timber sold to the consumers and 10902 consumers benefited in Kashmir region during 2017-2018.
Addressing the meeting, the Minister asked the concerned to work with utmost dedication and ensure timely distribution of timber among the needy consumers on first cum first serve basis.
He further instructed the officials to adhere to the targets given to them and called for adopting innovative methods and providing facility to consumers at their doorsteps to make the SFC more effective, people-friendly and profitable.
