SrinagarA school in South Kashmirs Kulgam district Wednesday engaged uniformed students to dust the mats and do cleaning of the school.
According to eyewitnesses, a number of students from Government Middle School Katrussu in Kulgam were seen dusting the school mats during school hours. The school students in white uniform were seen carrying green mats and cleaning them outside the school premises, witnesses said.
The locals termed such incidents as betrayal with the parents. We (parents) send our wards to school to study but the teachers there are forcing them to work as Safai Karamcharies, the locals said.
They demanded that the administration should take stern action against the school administration so that these acts wont be repeated.
Headmistress of the school, Meema Akhter later said that the students were doing the work on their own will. We didnt force the students to clean the mats and other related things. The students cleaned the mats on their own will, she said.
Reacting to the news Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Talat Pavez said that these incidents are not acceptable. These things wont be tolerated. Strict action will be taken against the school head, he said. (KNS)
