SrinagarThe Jammu and Kashmir High Court on Thursday directed all authorities to strictly comply with its orders on shifting of Batamloo bus stand to Parimpora in city outskirts.
The direction was passed by Chief Justice Badar Durrez Ahmad and Justice Alok Aradhe after perusal of report submitted by court-appointed commissioner, advocate Ateeb Kanth.
The commissioner submitted that he visited the old bus stand situated at Batmaloo and new bus stand at Parimpora along with estates officer and Khilafwarzi officer of Srinagar Development Authority.
He said the old bus stand was found to be vacant but buses, mini buses and taxi cabs continued to run from the main entrance and exit gates of the old bus stand and were creating problem by blocking and chocking the main road.
Regarding bus terminal at Parimpora, he informed the court that it was deserted and not a single bus, mini bus or taxi cab was visible except few buses of SRTC. He said the terminal was non-functional rather not in use.
On last date of hearing, the court had directed SDA to seal old bus stand at Batmaloo to be eventually used for public purpose.
Hearing a Public Interest Litigation, the court had also directed Divisional Commissioner and Kashmirs Inspector General of Police to provide all assistance to SDA.
With regard to identifying of no horn zones, the court observed that nothing has been done even signages have not been fixed on these places. Subsequently, the court directed SSP traffic to identify these zones and take adequate measures. The Court was also informed that out of 38 pollution checking centers, 14 checking centers have been restored.
The division bench was also informed that for installation of more checking centers, a request have been sent to oil companies for setting up of checking centers at their out-lets in the state and in this connection public notice has been published in daily newspaper of Kashmir and Jammu for inviting application for setting up of police checking centers. The Court also perused the report of PCB regarding monitoring of noise pollution in the city and observed that the same does not show good results and no improvement has been made in controlling the noise situation. The Court directed the SPCB authorities to step down the noise level and report the court by next date of hearing.
Rambagh Flyover by June
ERA informed the court that Rambagh flyover would be completed by the end of June 2018 and certain stretch of the road from Rambagh to Naaz Crossing have already been macadamized and remaining part of the stretch would be macadamized in near future.
