SrinagarHurriyat (G) Chairman Syed Ali Geelani on Tuesday urged both India and Pakistan to observe restraint along the line of control (LoC), and avoid resorting to actions that could culminate in further loss to life and property.
Observing that a flare-up could culminate in full-fledged war, Geelani said: None of us can afford the devastation and aftershock that follow a military conflict. It would be wise on the part of both countries to work towards establishing an environment of stability and tranquility in the subcontinent.
The Hurriyat leader also reminded all the parties concerned that they have more important priorities to attend to. Millions of people in India, Pakistan and war-torn Kashmir are living below poverty line in a state of constant uncertainty, he said.
Geelani said that BJP and RSS leadership is ignorant about sensitive nature of Kashmir issue and added that illegal tricks and follies can never do away with this serious issue.
Millions of people are affiliated with this issue and India since last 70 years however utilising its military might and deceit, failed to change and alter its nature, said Geelani.
Hurriyat leader suggested and asked Pakistan to deal Kashmir issue as an important party and in a responsible and effective way and while laying stress on observing patience and endurance said that cross border and unprovoked firing by Indian troops need to be highlighted at international level.
