JammuThree children were killed and 11 civilians injured as forward areas on the dividing Line of Control came under heavy fire and mortar shelling.
Pakistani Army this morning violated ceasefire agreement and fired unprovoked, targeted forward Indian posts and villages, Indian army here said.
A Defence spokesperson said small arms and mortars were fired which landed at Qasba and Kerni villages of Poonch district.
Minor boy namely Ashfaq Ahmed, 9, a resident of Naka Qasba, Yasmeen Akhter,15, a resident of Degwar and Tazeem Akhter,17, were killed in the shelling while 11 other civilians also sustained injuries out of which three critically injured were shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu.
The injured were identified as Saleema, 45,Soheeb Akhtar, 11, Mohammad Sadiq, 35, Yasar, 12, Mohammad Sadiq, 45, Muneer Hussain, 45, Mohammad Rafiq, 38, Reshmabi, 70.
Indian Army gave befitting reply to the ceasefire violation, spokesman said.
Meanwhile reports from the other side of the divide said of one more civilian death, and four others getting injured.
Pakistani army said the one civilian, identified as Muhammad Din, was killed in unprovoked’ Indian firing in Rakhchikri sector along the Line of Control on Monday.
Pakistan Army effectively engaged Indian posts targeting civil population. [There were] reports of two Indian posts destroyed, the it added.
The fresh firing and shelling came only a few days after flag meeting between border forces of India and Pakistan.
