Srinagar: The summoning of a PHD scholar by National Investigation Agency (NIA) sparked an anti-India protest at Kashmir University on Tuesday.
Aala Fazili, the Kashmir University scholar was summoned by the Indias premier investigation agency NIA on Friday along with trade leader, Muhammad Yasin Khan, in the alleged funding case.
Eyewitnesses said that students from different departments of Kashmir University assembled at Varsity premises and held a march raising slogans against NIA and India.
The protesting students who held a march amid slogans demanded the immediate release of Aala Fazili. Witnesses said that the students protest culminated outside Vice Chancellors Secretariat. They submitted a memorandum before the University Vice Chancellor, urging him to impress upon NIA not to harass Varsity students and ensure the immediate release of Aala Fazili.
