SrinagarDivisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Ahmad Khan today kick-started cleanliness drive of river Jhelum embankments from Panth Chowk to Chattabal Veir under nationwide sanitation campaign Swatchta Hi Seva.
Chairman SICOP, Deputy Director Planning, officers from SMC, I&FC and other concerned officials were present on this occasion.
The cleanliness drive was organized by SMC and Irrigation & Flood Control (I&FC) department in collaboration with New Delhi based NGO KASH Foundation. Around 200 students, SMC workers and officials of I&FC participated in the drive.
Speaking on the occasion Divisional Commissioner said that the aim of the campaign is to reinforce the concept of ‘sanitation’, re-energize Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and to intensify focus on cleanliness and to create an environment of cleanliness across in the spirit of a mass participation.
He appealed to people to come forward and be a part of this nationwide sanitation campaign and contribute to the noble cause by keeping their surroundings clean.
