SrinagarDivisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan, Friday convened a meeting to review the progress of Jehangir Chowk-Rambagh flyover and mini-flyover TRC (Grade Separator).
Director ERA, Deputy Director Planning, Executive Engineers of ERA, Executing Companies, Contractors and other concerned officers were present in the meeting.
The meeting was informed that the total cost of the Jehangir Chowk-Rambagh flyover project is Rs 262 crore. The construction is being undertaken on double shift basis and the first phase of the project from Rambagh-Amar Singh College will be completed by ending December 2017.
The remaining work of the flyover project will be completed in March 2018. The flyover will decongest traffic in the city and ease the movement of commuters.
In view of huge volume of work, the Div Com directed contractors to enhance the scale of labour at the site so that the project is completed in a fixed timeline.
He also directed them to ensure that the construction material is covered properly with tarpaulins or canopies during transportation to different locations along Jehangir Chowk-Rambagh flyover.
Div Com directed SSP Traffic City Srinagar not to stop the vehicles engaged in transportation of construction material for Jehangir Chowk-Rambagh flyover, except during peak morning and evening hours.
The meeting was also informed that the total project cost of TRC Mini Flyover (Grade Separator) is Rs. 61 crores and the project will be completed in June next year.
Div Com stressed the engineers and contractors to ensure judicious use of funds. He also directed them to speed up the pace of work for timely completion so that commuters are benefited.
On the occasion, Divisional Commissioner said the CM is keen to see the Jehangir Chowk-Rambagh Flyover and Mini Flyover TRC (Grade Separator) meeting their deadlines so that large chunk of population gets relief from regular traffic jams.
He also directed Director ERA to send daily report to the Divisional Commissioners office regarding the progress of the work of these flyover projects.
