SrinagarKashmir High Court Bar Association will elect its new president on September 28 in what should be a direct contest between incumbent Mian Abdul Qayoom and Nazir Ahmad Ronga. In all, 12 candidates are in fray for various posts of the lawyers body.
The elections were originally scheduled on September 7 but were deferred because of the issuance of notice to the President of the Bar Association Mian qayoom by NIA. An election body on Wednesday decided to hold the polls September 28.
Alongside with election to the post of president, there will be also a direct contest for the post of Vice President between Mohammad Ashraf Bhat and Mushtaq Ahmad Dar.
For the post of General Secretary, Ghulam Nabi Shaheen will fight it out with Shabir Ahmad Butt while Aadil Asimi, Asrar Ahmad and Ishrat-Ul-Nissa will fight vie for the post of Joint Secretary.
For Treasure, Sameer Ahmad Wani and Zahoor Ahmad Bhat are locked in a direct contest.
