Abu Ismail was Commander not Chief: LeT

Srinagar: Reacting to the remarks of Jammu and Kashmir Police Chief that after the killing of Abu Ismayil, nobody wants to assume the charge of Lashkar-e-Taiba Chief, the outfit on Tuesday clarified that the slain Abu Ismayil was only a commander while the real chief of the organization is Mahmood Shah.

The outfit spokesperson Dr Abdullah Ghaznavi in a statement to news agency CNS said that India has to sacrifice a lot for getting their hands on LeT Chief.

“Our commanding hierarchy won’t make sense to poor minded Indian forces. We don’t thrive upon status but performances. Our commanders claim their bravery and trophies by attacking the Indian armed forces, despite being low in resources, which is enough to tell who the commanding leader is.”

LeT reacts to DGP’s statement

Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) on Tuesday said its chief is Mehmood Shah and that Abu Ismail, who was killed last week, was a ‘brave commander’. It also said that “to reach to our chief, Indian Army has to lose its several chiefs”.

A spokesperson of the outfit Dr Abdullah Ghaznavi in a statement issued to news agency GNS said, “We want to tell the DGP Shesh Paul Vaid that our command system is beyond his comprehension. We don’t make show off but our performances speak it all.”

SP Vaid on Monday said no militant is ready to become chief of LeT in Kashmir after the killing of former head Abu Ismail in an encounter last week. DGP also urged people to make children understand what is good and bad for them and tread the “right path”.

Ghaznavi said the LeT commanders claim their bravery and trophies by attacking Indian forces despite being low in resources. He said the DGP will very soon come to know as to who succeeded the slain Abu Ismail.
