SrinagarNational Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday said that it have arrested two Kupwara residents over their alleged links with a Pakistani militant Bahadur Ali who was held last year in Handwara.
According to NIA, two persons have been arrested in NIA Case RC-11/2016/NIA/DLI from Jammu. He identified the duo as as Zahoor Ahmed Peer and Nazir Ahmed Peer, both residents of Wahama village of Kupwara. The NIA said that the duo was held over their involvement in NIA case number RC- 11/2016/NIA/DLI (Bahadur Ali Case).
On 25/07/2016, the NIA arrested a Pakistani Lashkar-eT-aiba militant from Handwara. A large quantity of incriminating material, including arms and ammunition were recovered from Bahadur Ali. As per the investigation, the accused persons, Zahoor Ahmed Peer and Nazir Ahmed Peer provided material and logistic support to Bahadur Ali soon after his infiltration into Indian territory, said the NIA.
The case against Bahadur Ali has been charge sheeted whereas further investigation in the case was in progress, the probe agency said. During further investigation, the role of Zahoor Ahmed Peer and Nazir Ahmed Peer surfaced following which they have been arrested. NIA will be seeking the transit remand of these accused persons and will bring them to Delhi for further questioning, the agency added.
Kamran, Javed Sent to Judicial Custody till Oct 17
A Delhi court Tuesday remanded Kamran Yousuf and Javed Ahmad to judicial custody till October 17, sources said.
Kamran, a freelance photojournalist from Pulwama and Javed a youngster from Kulgam district were arrested by NIA on September 5 in connection with an ongoing probe into an alleged funding case.
During the in-camera proceedings, District Judge Poonam Bamba remanded Javed and Kamran to judicial custody after they were produced before the court on expiry of their National Investigation Agency (NIA) custody.
