Srinagar: Alqama alias Zeenat ul Islam has been appointed as the new Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander in Kashmir, according to the news reports emanating from New Delhi. After the death of Abu Ismail, Lashkar named Alqama as its new commander. Forces killed Lashkar commander Abu Ismail in Nowgam encounter along with his associate Abu Qasim on September 14.
The 28-year-old reportedly joined Lashkar in November 2015. He was booked under the Public Safety Act (PSA) a number of times after his first arrest in 2008.
