SrinagarAs a part of digital India Plan, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly has put RTI responses online on its official website www.jklegislativeassembly.nic.in.
Now replies to queries will be put up on the website and will be available for all to view and not just the person behind the query.
Speaker Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gutpa termed the move as a welcome step towards e-governance.
It will not only improve transparency but also reduce the workload of government officials as it will help eliminate possibility of repeated RTI queries on the same issue, he said.
He congratulated the Secretary Assembly and IT Branch, Assembly for the step. “Our aim is to bring in more transparency and make available our services to the citizens of the State at their door steps. Our endeavour is that people receive their replies without waiting for postal reply.
Secretary Legislative Assembly, M. R. Singh said that the facility was started this month and we have already uploaded replies of nine applications received from March 2017 onwards.
He said that people who file RTI application shall also receive response through a hard copy as well.
Pertinently, the Speaker had issued directions to make RTI Act accessible to citizens of the State and provide them information at the earliest.
