SrinagarIslamia College Alumni team Monday defeated Government Degree College Shopian by 53 runs in their Yousuf Memorial Inter College Cricket Cup fixture played at Islamia College Srinagar ground.
In a rain curtailed game, Islamia College alumni side posted a massive total of 199 in the allotted 25 overs thanks to Umair Nisar and Owais Shah who contributed 35 and 32 respectively. For GDC Shopian, Mohsin got a brace of wickets.
Despite looting 24 runs in the first over of the chase, GDC Shopian failed to work on the strong start getting all-out for 146 in the 23rd over. It was Islamia College alumnis spin department that scripted GDC Shopians downfall with Asif taking five wickets.
Earlier the teams were introduced to the chief guest Prof. Muzafar Ahmed Khan principal of the college. Amar Singh College Srinagar will play against GDC Sumbal today and GDC Bijbhara will lock horns against GDC Ganderbal on Wednesday.
The tournament is being organised by the department of Physical Education Islamia College Srinagar.
