Srinagar: Hours after High Court Bar Association President Mian Abdul Qayoom was released by NIA, he presided over the General Body meeting, with the lawyers deciding to resume the work from Saturday.
The senior lawyer arrived from Delhi in the morning after being questioned by NIA for two days.
A lawyer told KNS that Mian Qayoom reached Srinagar today and has been asked to appear again before NIA on September 14. Eight members of Bar had gone along with Mian Qayoom to New Delhi.
The Bars general body will meet on Tuesday (Sep 12), two days before Qayoom will fly to Delhi to appear before NIA.
Lawyers across Kashmir valley on Friday had suspended the court work for the fifth consecutive day to protest against NIA for summoning their president to New Delhi.
Today, we held a two-hour meeting which was presided over by our Bar Association president Mian Qayoom, the lawyer said.
The lawyers said that NIA is used as a tool by the Government of India to suppress the voices in Kashmir and also silence those people who raise voice of the victims.
Qayoom was grilled by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for at least seven hours on Wednesday in New Delhi. He had been summoned by the investigating agency to its Delhi office for a case registered on May 30 this year. Yesterday, he was questioned for 5 hours.
