SrinagarDistrict Information Centre, Kathua Tuesday organised a symposium on the theme of National Sports Day here at Nav Adarsh Hr. Sec. School, an official statement said.
According to the statement, Additional Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Dr Bharat Bhushan was the chief guest.
The members of Private Schools Coordination Committee Kathua and staff of the host school were also present on the occasion.
Students from different government affiliated private schools of Kathua participated in the symposium and expressed their views on the subject. They highlighted the importance of sports in leading a healthy, disciplined life and help in the overall development of the students.They also underlined the need for imbibing the principles of punctuality, patience, discipline, teamwork and dedication in ones life. In his address, the Chief Guest hailed the initiative of Information Department for providing opportunity to the students to express their thoughts on a subject of great importance. He also said that National Sports Day is celebrated in India on August 29, the birthday of hockey legend Dhyan Chand who won gold medals for India in Olympics in the years 1928, 1932 and 1936. He encouraged students to actively participate in sports activities to gain confidence and strength to face the challenges of the life.
Later, mementos and certificates were presented to the participating students by the chief guest.
