SrinagarIn its continuous efforts to upgrade the advance surgical procedures for better patient care in peripheries Minimal Access Surgery Unit was established by Directorate of Health Services Kashmir (DHSK) at JLNM Hospital in June 2016.
Since then around 764 successful Minimal Access (Laparoscopic ) surgeries have been performed which includes Laparoscopic Cholecystectomies, Laparoscopic Appendectomies, Laparoscopic Hernia Repairs, MIPH, Laparoscopic Hydatid Cyst Excision, Laparoscopic Ovarian Cystectomies, Laparoscopic Varicocelectomies, Laparoscopic Surgery for Ectopic Pregnancies and Diagnostic and Therapeutic Laparoscopy for Malignancy and Infertility.
The Minimal Access Unit is headed by Dr H Vaqar Ahmed and assisted by Dr Akhtar Ganai and a team of anaesthesiologists and other paramedical staff under logistic support from Dr Nazir Shahdad Medical Superintendent, JLNM Hospital.
Director Health Services Kashmir Dr Saleem Ur Rehman while stating that Minimal Access Surgery has advantages of less pain, less blood loss, less hospital stay and quick return to normal work has appreciated the MAS Unit and Hospital administration for achieving this feat. (CNS)
