SrinagarSociety of Dental Surgeons, J&K (SDSJK) has welcomed the step of sealing illegal dental clinic by Chief Medical Officer, Budgam at Chadoora on Saturday.
“An esteemed doctor had uploaded the prescription of the quack on which various executive members of SDSJK took strong note and highlighted the issue for its redressal”, SDSK said in a statement.
President SDSJK Dr Imtiyaz Banday apprised and stressed upon CMO Budgam to take strict action against the quack who has been practicing illegally that too opposite Sub District Hospital Chadoora.
CMO Budgam Dr G M Dar assured the association for swift action and today a team headed by Dr Zia Bhat which was constituted by BMO Chadoora sealed the illegal dental establishment.
Dr Suhail Latoo , executive Member SDSJK said that it is utterly shocking and deplorable that when illegal practices are running in the heart of towns near major health institutes, there is no surprise about the rampant and life threatening quackery prevalent in the state.
“SDSJK wants to reiterate that after its dedicated efforts Directorate of Health Services, Kashmir issued a circular vide order no DHSK/PLG/2015/261-62 dated 29/04/2015 wherein a Divisional Committee was established to regulate the illegal clinical practices prevalent in oral health care across state. The circular further directs the district health administrators to work in tandem with Divisional Committee so as to put curb on such mal practices. But unfortunately the administrators initially acted on the directions but lately have turned a deaf ear due to reasons known better to them.
SDSJK stresses the authorities that if such mal practice and illegal establishments are not stopped there are every apprehension of an epidemic of blood borne and life threatening diseases which the Govt. is witnessing wherever they have started screening of patients. Govt. is already spending bulk on those patients who have been diagnosed with Life Threatening Diseases.
A recent screening study has revealed that deadly Hepatitis-C has spread rampantly and Dental Quackery has been one of the major cause”.
It further said that Oral Health Care is a neglected field by the Govt. and lack of proper regulation has degraded this to the lowest level which has made public susceptible to various life threatening diseases as proper protocol is not being maintained.
SDSJK warned Govt. that if its not serious about abolishing Dental Quackery a state wide campaign will be launched to resolve this issue so that health concerns of common public are addressed and quality oral health care is provided to patients.
