SrinagarPolice have filed a case against unknown non-locals who after thrashing an elderly man snatched away his cell-phone near Municipal Park Srinagar.
The incident occurred on Tuesday night at around 9:30, according to the victim Abdul Rashid Bhat.
Bhat (58) who appeared here in the Press Colony told reporters that after offering night prayers at Sarai Bala, he was on way towards GPO when two non-locals pounced on him and snatched his cell phone.
I was busy talking with my daughter on cell-phone when two non-locals pushed me and snatched my phone. As I ran after them, they stopped and ruthlessly beat me up, he said while displaying a blood-clotted handkerchief.
Bhat said that shortly after the incident he along with one of his friends went to police station Kothibagh. The police team visited the spot of incident. When the police dialed my cell-number, they picked up the phone and started abusing the cops, he said.
A police official from Kothibagh Police Station said that an FIR vide number 61/2017 under section 341, 394 RPC stands registered in this regard. A team has been constituted to nab the culprits, he said. (CNS)
