BandiporaAn encounter broke out on Thursday between militants and security forces near the Line of Control in Gurez sector of north Kashmir, officials said.
According to a senior police official, on noticing suspicious movement during the course of a routine patrol, the Army launched a massive search operation on Wednesday evening at Dhurmut forest area at Kundalwan in Gurez sector.
The police official said that during the search operation when the militants were spotted, an encounter ensued and after a brief exchange of fire, two of the infiltrating militants were killed.
