SrinagarTwo government forces personnel who were injured in separate incidents succumbed today at hospitals here in summer capital.
Officials said that armys Havaldar Narendra Singh who had sustained bullet injuries due to sniper fire from across the Line of Control at a forward post in Rampur Sector of Uri on August 7 succumbed at 92 Base Hospital on Wednesday. The slain was shot in head.
In a solemn ceremony at BB Cantonment, Lt Gen JS Sandhu, Chinar Corps Commander and all ranks, paid homage to the martyr on behalf of a proud nation. In a show of solidarity, the state Minister Abdul Rehman Veeri and officials of other security agencies also joined in paying their last respects to the martyr, an army spokesman said.
Meanwhile, a CRPF head constable identified as Riyaz Ahmad of 181 Battalion also succumbed to his injuries. The slain was injured in a grenade attack at Magam in Budgam district on August 14 in which two other CRPF men and one cop were also injured.
