SrinagarThe Jammu and Kashmir government has asked its workforce to attend August 15 function as part of their official duty in Srinagar.
In a circular issued by Commissioner Secretary to General Administrative Department (GAD), all the officers and officials, stationed at Srinagar, have been asked to attend the main function of the I-Day celebration at the Bakhshi Stadium on Tuesday at 7:30 AM.
All administrative secretaries, heads of departments, managing directors and chief executives of the public sector undertakings are requested to ensure that all officials working under their administrative control attend the function.
The government also ordered the Managing Director, J&K SRTC Limited and Managing Director, J&K Tourism Development Corporation Limited to ensure that the buses or canters of their corporations be deployed for transportation of employees of moving departments at Srinagar.
This is not for the first time that such an order has been issued to the government employees in the Kashmir. However, as has been witnessed, there are hardly any takers for such orders, with I-Day functions remaining a low-key affair on public attendance.
The Bakhshi Stadium, the main venue for official function in the Valley, remains out of bounds for public on the day as tight security cover is thrown around it because of the apprehensions of any militant strike against the function.
