BandiporaThere is a need to maintain a balance between Tradition and Modernity to have a successful life; scholars on Wednesday said during a debate organised to discuss Tradition and Modernity here in Bandipora. They said that Tradition is a stepping stone to know the Truth and God.
Scholars expressed their thoughts during a debate organized by Kashmir Comparative Literary and Philosophical Foundation (KCLPF) on Tradition and Modernity in Library Hall Sports Stadium Bandipora.
Noted Academician and Scholar Prof. Sanaullah Mir Parvaz (AMU) during the debate said that the conflict between Tradition and Modernity is a continuous historical process which needs to be balanced.

Both the Tradition and Modernity are important having respective significances but to maintain the balance between the two for successful life man should follow modernity according to the requirement while tradition should be prioritized over the modernity, Prof Sanaullah Mir Parvaz said.
He said that an individual is both the product and the creator of tradition, though the latter possibilities are often denied to most ordinary people.
Discussing the importance of the tradition in the post modern society, Prof Parvazz said that each individual must reprocess his tradition in the light of his own experiences to avoid the anti-traditional thoughts and ideas.
He said sacred lies in Tradition rather in Modernity.
Dr. Muhammad Maroof Shah an author and columnist while discussing the significance of tradition brings into being the identity of a nation, community, and an individual.
An individual or society can escape from ideals of modernity but cant escape from the ideals of the tradition, Dr. Maroof said.
In our traditional understanding all the sacred ideas can be seen as a unity, in continuum, not fragmented or divided, said Dr Maroof, adding tradition has prime importance in the modern society as It consists of what is handed down from generation to generation, the wisdom and knowledge of the past, without which the present and the future become meaningless.
