SrinagarAt least one Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan was injured when suspected militants attacked a patrol party in Nowgam area in the city outskirts on Saturday evening, Police said.
The attack took place at around 8:45 pm when the CRPF personnel, who were a part of road opening deployment, were returning back to their camp,” a senior police official said.
“One personnel of CRPF’s 29 was injured during the attack. The jawan was hit by a bullet on thigh but his condition was stated to be stable,” the officer added.
Meanwhile, Police has launched Cordon and Search Operation to nab the attackers. (PTI)

Militant outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba has claimed the responsibility of attack on CRPF patrol on Nowgam Bye-Pass here this evening. Defence sources said that a CRPF personnel was injured in the attack. According to sources the soldier got hit in his thigh and his condition is stable.
While claiming the responsibility of the attack on Indian security forces at Nowgam Srinagar, LeT spokesman Abdullah Ghaznavi in a statement to news agency CNS said, Mujahideen of Lashkar-e-Toiba attacked an Army convoy at Nowgam and the Army has suffered many casualities. (CNS)
