Srinagar At least three persons committed suicide in the span of 24 hours in the state with one 22 year old youth hanging himself in Srinagar.
“A 22 year old youth (name withheld) resident of Noorbagh Srinagar committed suicide by hanging himself inside his residential house,”police said on Thursday.
After completion of medico-legal formalities, the body of the deceased was handed over to his next of kin for last rites. Srinagar police has registered a case in this regard.
A teenager allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his father’s pistol at his residence in Jammu city, police said.
16-year-old Gourav Choudhary shot himself at his residence in Sainik Colony, a police officer said.
The post-mortem has been conducted and a case registered in this regard, he said.
The officer said no suicide note was recovered from the deceased. The boy’s father is a property dealer.
“The motive behind the extreme step is being investigated”, the officer said.
Meanwhile a 25-year-old youth allegedly committed suicide following a directive by a panchayat to drink the urine of a girl, whose family accused that he raped her, in Rajouri district, prompting the police to launch a probe.
