SrinagarA tennis ball cricket tourney organised by Kashmir Harvard School Habak, Naseem Bagh began Monday at Mallabagh ground, a statement from the school said.
According to the statement the tourney was inaugurated by the Chairman of Kashmir Harvard Tariq Ahmed with a decent crowd watching the tournament opener.
The tournament will see as many 16 teams vying for the top glory. The curtain raiser game saw Kashmir Harvard Blues beat Mallabagh Warriors by 34 runs. In what proved to be a low scoring tie, Harvard Blues posted 84 in the allotted 12 overs. In return, Mallabagh Warriors were shot out for a paltry 50 inside 11 overs.
Chairman of Kashmir Harvard encouraged the players and wished them best of luck. The tournament winner, according to the organizers, will be richer by 25000 rupees.
The elders of the area present during the match thanked Kashmir Harvard for promoting the sports in the area and uplifting the infrastructure of the ground. Spectators were seen enthusiastic as the ground was in shambles from 4 years, the statement said.
