SrinagarMohammad Momin impressed with both bat and the ball as his side 4G Lions pocketed a close two-run victory over MCC Mammath in their Aga Syed Mehdi Memorial Cricket Tournament 2017 fixture played at Sports Stadium Budgam on Wednesday.
In what was a low scoring thriller Momin scored important 44 runs with the bat and then took a brace of wickets making sure 4G Lions defended a below par score.
Batting first, 4G Lions managed just 128 for the loss of nine wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Only Momin had a score of note, making a solid 44.
Defending a low score, 4G bowlers exhibited great character and skills to limit MCC Mammath to 126 for the loss of six wickets, securing a two-run victory. Momin got two wickets. He was declared man of the match for his all-round performance.
The second fixture of the day another all-round performance on the show with Manzoor Ahmad starring with both bat and ball to play a crucial role in Elegant Strikers huge 68-run victory over JCC Zadibal.
Riding largely on a well-made fifty by Manzoor, Elegant Strikers Soura amassed a decent score of 171 for the loss of four wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Manzoor was the leading scorer for Strikers making a 50.
He then returned to excel with the ball in the hand, snaring a three-fer as JCC Zadibal made a heavy weather of the chase. They were shot out for a nothing 103 inside 15 overs, slumping to a 68-run defeat and exit from the tournament.
Unsurprisingly, Manzoor was handed over with man of the match award.
