SrinagarHurriyat (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani on Friday said that India is claiming to be a great democracy in world, however all its claims are proving hollow as it refuses to honour its pledges of granting people their right of self determination.
He denounced the attack on Yatries and said that we seriously condemn this. Referring to teachings of Islam Syed Ali Geelani said that we hail human values as Islam teaches us to uphold and respect ethics and human lives. Hailing youth for their exemplary and sympathetic approach towards injured Yatries, Syed Ali Geelani said that it is what Islam teaches us.
Lashing at Indian authorities for what he described as ‘barbaric and inhuman’ approach, Geelani said that tyranny and oppression have touched heights in Kashmir and all rights and liberties of people have disappeared.
Six lakh people were martyred since last seventy years and more than six hundred grave yards stand testimony that people in state are facing worst type of tyranny from occupational forces, added Syed Ali Geelani.
Our ten thousand youth disappeared in forces custody and in nook and corner of state there are more than 7600 unmarked graves and nobody known about those buried in these graves, added he.
Geelani said that today, we pay our heartfelt tributes to all martyrs and especially those slain on 13thJuly 1931.
They sacrificed their precious lives to save us from slavery, brutality, oppression and imperialism, added Syed Ali Geelani.
“I want to make it clear that war is neither option nor a solution”, said Geelani and added that all issues can be resolved through dialogue only.
“We stress that resolution passed in UNO be implemented in letter & spirit and let people decide their future course of political destiny of state,” said he.
Ridiculing the claims of Indian authorities that people of Jammu and Kashmir want to stay with India, Syed Ali Geelani said that 95 percent of population in state want independence from India and challenging Indian authorities, Geelani said that let India withdraw its forces and it will let them know the aspiration of people about their political destiny.
