AmritsarDal Khalsa Party leaders, H S Dhami and Kanwar Pal Singh while paying their respect to the slain Hizb commander, Burhan Wani, Saturday said Kashmir’s brave-heart’s martyrdom has infused new life in the movement.
“A spark was needed to rekindle the spirit for freedom in Kashmir, said they and added that his death provided that spark,” they said in a statement.
“Burhan reverberates in the minds and emotions of the Kashmiri people, who love him, admire him and cherish his contribution to the just cause,” they said.
Expressing solidarity with the people of Kashmir, the leaders of pro-Sikh freedom group said the people of Punjab shares the pain and concerns of their next door neighbors.
They urged the world powers to break their studied silence, rise above their commercial interests and intervene to resolve the Kashmir dispute by granting the people their right to self determination.
Peoples love for Burhan a referendum: Shah
Strongly condemning the deployment of additional forces in valley, imposing of undue restrictions on peoples movement, and arrest of resistance leaders and activists ahead of the first anniversary of Shaheed Burhan Wani and his two associates, the incarcerated chairman of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Shabir Ahmad Shah said New Delhi and its collaborators wont succeed in stopping people from remembering their hero.
In a statement issued to press, Shah said the peoples tribute to Shaheed Burhan Wani is a referendum against the Indian forcible occupation. He said Kashmiris are not scared of bullets and suppressive measures. Indian leaders should read writing on the wall that it can cage our bodies but not our souls, he said.
Shah strongly condemned the siege of Tral since last four days and converting of the adjacent areas into a military garrison and termed it a coward act. He said Shaheed Burhan lives in the hearts of Kashmiris and it is impossible to stop people from paying tributes to him.
Today, people had to visit Tral and pay tributes to their hero and reconfirm their pledge to take forward the freedom movement but the foiling of march made it clear that India and its collaborators are scared of the peoples referendum, he said.
On one hand, people are suffering due to the prevailing situation and on other side; they are facing hardships due to undue restrictions.
Shabir Ahmad Shah also condemned the disallowing of Friday prayers at central Jamia Masjid, Srinagar and other masajids across valley and termed it interference in the religious affairs.
Such acts make it clear that authorities have not only waged war against civilian population but also against the religious affairs, he said.
Shah said the remembrance of our martyrs rejuvenates our sentiments for freedom.
