SrinagarWith authorities failing to undertake macadamization of Natipora-Nowgam road, the area shopkeepers have been mulling to pool money to turn the 4 kilometer busy road motarable.
Miffed at the alleged government apathy, scores of shopkeepers operating from Natipora-Nowgam road stretch called a meeting and decided to pool money for the repair of the road in case government did not macadamize it in coming days.
The shopkeepers said they approached the government top brass including MLA Amira Kadal seeking macadamization of the road many times but all in vain. The road which is in shambles from past couple of years is taking a heavy toll on the commuters, especially shopkeepers-who face problems due to dust emanating from the dilapidated road.
The inhabitants of scores of colonies existing in the area said that in absence of repairs, the four- kilometer stretch is dotted with potholes. The locals said due to bad condition of the road, the drivers mostly three-wheelers avoid plying on the route.
