SrinagarOne the very first day of Amarnath Yatra, a causality was reported after a pilgrim came under a shooting stone while way to holy cave at Baltal base camp in Ganderbal district of central Kashmir on Thursday.
Official sources while identifying the pilgrim as 50-year-old Bhushan Kotwal, a resident of Jammu said that he was seriously injured after being hit by a shooting stone that rolled down from a hillock while he was crossing Brarimarg area on 16-km Baltal-cave route in Ganderbal district on Thursday morning.
He was evacuated to the Base Camp hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
The annual Amarnath Yatra commenced today with over 6000 pilgrims having so far left base camp Baltal to pay obeisance at the holy cave in the Himalayas.
