Srinagar: Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has urged people to celebrate Eid-al-Fitr with austerity keeping in view the grim situation prevailing in Kashmir.
Eid is a day of thanksgiving to almighty Allah for his blessings and mercy upon us. I pray to almighty that may this Eid bring us happiness peace and deliverance from tyranny and occupation, Mirwaiz said in his Eid message.
He appealed to people to reach out to the needy and poor sections of society and help them. Mirwaiz said, While remembering martyrs and their grieving families we should celebrate the occasion with austerity and simplicity and in keeping with the tenets of Islam.
