BudgamThousands of people here today participated in the annual International Quds Day demonstrations to express their solidarity with the oppressed people of the world particularly Palestine.
Amidst sloganeering people took out a massive procession from central Imam Bargah toward main chowk which later culminated at Imam Bargah.
Carying placards which condemn Israeli ‘terrorism’ people flooded the streets.
The rally was organised by President Anjuman Sharie Shian and senior Hurriyat leader Agha Syed Hassan Al Safvi.
Adressing the gathering Agha Hassan said, “it is our religious duty to take part in Quds Day demonstrations and to support every oppressed nation including Palestine, Kashmir, Yemen, Syria and others.”
Demanding implementation of long pending United Nations resolutions on Kashmir Agha Hassan condemned the civilian killings in Kashmir and demanded release of political prisoners before Eid.
He appealed muslims in general and Kashmiris in particular to stand united and defeat enemies of unity.
On the occasion a group of protesting youth said, “we are here to support people of Palestine whose basic rights are being trampled by Israel.”
They said freedom of Palestine is important and that would also pave the way for Kashmir’s freedom.
“We commemorate this day to exhibit our resilience and resentment against the zoinst regime and oppressive systems of the world,” says Irfan Ali a protester.
Ali added this day appears hope for all muslims who are under ‘oppression and injustice’ and gives a ray of hope for their freedom and justice.
Meanwhile, hundreds of women also held a rally against Israel. Holding banners and placards they also marched from Imam Bargah to main chowk and vice versa.
“Quds day is not only a day of Palestine rather this day belongs to the every oppressed nation of the world,” said a group of girls who were raising furious slogans against Israel. They said most Muslim countries have become ‘puppets’ of Israel. “These puppets should desist from their activities and take a lead in opposing Israel and its tereorism.”
Furthermore, Quds processions were also reported from Magam, Bemina, Ichgam and Chadora areas of Budgam.
Meanwhile, Quds Day is being observed annually in many muslim and non-muslim countries. The leader of Islamic Revolution Imam Khomeini (ra) had made obligatory for muslims to partake in this event and support Palestine.
