SrinagarA special checking squad of Department of Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) Kashmir Saturday barged into Women College Srinagar, misbehaving with the teachers for running insanitary cafe inside the college premises.
A senior fauclty at the College, wishing annonymity said that a sepcial checking squad of Department of Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) entered into the college premsies without any prior permission on the pretext of carrying out inspection of the college cafetria. However, the faculty said that after entering inot the college, the squad, comprising of some young boys misbehaved and mistreated the faculty members.
We arent against the checking of quality of the cafeteria. However the kind of treatment these officials meted is beyond explination, said the faculty member. Another faculty member from Department of English, alleged that after inspecting the college cafeteria, the squad started lecturing the faculty and students over food safety. We were ashamed when our Princiapal was treated like a cook infront of the studnets, they alleged.
Meanwhile the faculty members in this regard called a meeting to shot a formal complaint to the Minster for Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) Choudhary Zulfkar Ali. The faculty members and studnets expressed their dismay over the unprofessional and unparlimenray treatment by the FCS&CA officials on duty.
Princiapal, Government Women College, Srinagar, Prof Shaheen Altaf told Kashmir Observer that this is a prestigious institution of higher learning. Studnets join us with different dreams, aspirations and goals which consequently put a huge responsibility on our shoulders to provide you with the means and avenues of turning them into reality. We are here to take care of the quality of everything and eductaion too, she said. The behavior of these officials is highly condemanble, she said.
Talking to Kashmir Observer, PRO to Minster for Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA), Zakir Malik termed it an unfortunate incident. He assured that once a written complaint is filed in their office, strict action would be taken against the squad.
