SrinagarGovernor N.N. Vohra launched Madadgaar a 24×7 telephone Helpline- 14411, started by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) for providing assistance to the citizens of Kashmir, at a function organized by the CRPF here today.
Governor complimented Rajiv Rai Bhatnagar, DG, CRPF and all his officers for their pro-active initiatives to provide assistance and support to the people at large, particularly in the event of medical exigencies, clearing of roads when they get blocked by snowfall or other national accidents, providing safety to women and the elderly and to students studying outside the State, counselling and guidance to those in need, help to tourists etc.
Governor observed that CRPF, which is the oldest law and order enforcement agency in the country, has been involved in dealing with all kinds of difficult situations and its disciplined officers and men have been successfully handling various challenges of domestic unrest professionally and with maximum possible restraint.
Governor appealed to J&K students who are studying outside the State to approach the CRPF through the Madadgaar helpline whenever they are faced with any difficulty and the CRPF, through their units who are deployed all over the country, will promptly provide them the necessary assistance.
Governor urged Education Minister Altaf Bukhari and the media fraternity to give wide publicity to this valuable Helpline.
Dr. Nirmal K. Singh, Deputy Chief Minister praised the CRPF for their dedication and commitment to public welfare and hoped that this Helpline will be immensely useful for reaching out to people in distress.
Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, Minister for Education, appealed to the people to make full use of this Helpline and help CRPF serve them better.

Sh. Fayaz, Ms. Rashida and Ms. Seerat-ur-Rehman, members of the civil society, spoke about the usefulness of this Helpline for the citizens of Kashmir.
Sh. B.B. Vyas, Chief Secretary; Dr. S.P. Vaid, DGP; Lt. Gen. J.S. Sandhu, GoC 15 Corps; Sh. Zulfiquar Hasan, IG(Ops) Kashmir were among those present on the occasion.
