Srinagar: Five day festival Payam- e-Ramazan 2017 organized by Department of Students Welfare begins at Gandhi Bhawan, University of Kashmir on today.
The event was inaugurated by Professor Musadiq Amin Sahaf, Dean Academic Affairs and acting Vice Chancellor.
Dean Students Welfare professor G N khaki was also present on the occasion. The festival started with the inaugural speech of Vice Chancellor. He spoke on the importance of Ramadan and appreciated the participants and organizers for organizing the festival.
Five different competitions will be held on five different days under the festival. Husn-e-Naat competition was held on Thursday with 55 students across different schools, colleges, higher secondarys taking part in the competition. Students of different departments from Kashmir University also participated in the competition.
Renowned singers of Valley Muneer Ahmad Muneer and Rashid Jahangir were the judges. The participants were judged based on their performance.
Muneer Ahmad Muneer said, This is a great platform for the youth to showcase their talent. These festivals should be held twice a year because talent in the valley is huge and it should be grooved at this platform. Students also expressed their satisfaction over participating in the event. I am very proud of myself by participating in the competition. We should take part in such religious festivals, said Hawi Qazi a student of MERC department. Winning does not matter but taking part in such competitions gives me a sense of satisfaction, she said
