SrinagarGovernor N.N. Vohra, Chairman, Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, yesterday travelled unscheduled from Srinagar to the last check point at Chandanwari for gaining first-hand knowledge about the road and traffic conditions on this axis which witnesses heavy tourist and pilgrim movements at this time of the year.
The Governor found that a great deal requires to be done for ensuring satisfactory traffic management and, on his return, spoke to DGP and IGP Kashmir both of whom assured immediate attention being given to improve the traffic flows. He also spoke with Naeem Akhtar, Minister for Public Works, regarding the time bound work which requires to be done to improve the road condition right from Ram Munshi Bagh Chowk to the point where the National Highway has become operational and, thereafter, right up to Pahalgam. Akhtar informed the Governor that he would himself be undertaking an inspection tour and would ensure that the required work was got completed before the end of the Month.
