SrinagarThe government has accorded sanction to the re-constitution of Village Education Committees (VEC) which will be headed by Headmaster or Head-teacher of any school functioning in the village.
The order to this effect was issued by Secretary School Education Farooq Ahmed Shah, which said that two members of Panchayat or Municipal wards including at least one lady member and one respected person of the village will be part of the committee.
According to the government order, a teaching official of one of the schools shall be the Member Secretary of the committee which will also comprise of one person from amongst retired teachers, retired government officials, alumni or academicians and one gentleman or one lady from amongst parents as its members.
The Non-official members shall be nominated by the Zonal Education Officer in consultation with the MLA concerned and all the nominations shall be for one academic session on rotation basis.
