AnantnagPara-military jawan Monday thrashed a mentally challenged septuagenarian man after he allegedly tried to grab his gas gun in South Kashmirs Anantnag district.
Eyewitnesses said that a mentally challenged man was sitting beside a para-military soldier when he suddenly tried to grab his gas gun that turned jawan panicky.
The jawan raised an alarm following which his colleagues thrashed the man and handed him over to police.
One of the jawans said that old man tried to flee with the gas gun, a charge refuted by eyewitnesses.
Station House Officer Police Station Anantang, Ayaz Geelani said that they set the man free after it was established that he is mentally unsound. (CNS)
