SRINAGAR: Gujjar Bakerwal Student Conference protested at Press Enclave here on Thursday and demanded for PG Hostel in Srinagar and other basic facilities.
On the occasion, student activist and Gujjar Bakarwal Students Conference State Vice president Mohamad Asif alongwith other students staged a protest demanded PG hostel in Srinagar for the students of this downtrodden community.
Chowdary Asif said that, two PG hostels were earlier given by government , one in Jammu and second in Kashimir. While the PG hostel of Jammu is running from last three years but Srinagar PG hostel is yet to be built.
He said that this PG, hostel should also be made available for students of Gujjar community as soon as possible.
According to the protesting Gujjar, Bakerwal students , scholarship by Ministry of Minority Affairs for poor students was also not given to all the students due to which the students faced problems. They said that scholarship should also be provided to the deserving students immediately.
They said that Gujjar Bakerwal Hostel at Pulwama remains under Army occupation since past 25 years.
