SRINAGAR: Waseem Ahmad blasted a 50-ball 72 as Zooming Stars beat Sheikh Ul Alam by a close margin of three runs in their Aga Syed Mehdi Memorial T-20 Cricket Tournament fixture played at Budgam Sports Stadium on Tuesday.
Batting first Zooming Stars amassed a score of 191 for the loss of eight wickets in their stipulated 20 overs. The star of the batting show was Waseem who unfurled some quality strokes on his way to a magnificent 72 that took him just 50 balls.
Sheikh Ul Alam gave a good account of themselves during their chase getting closer to Zooming Stars target. They managed a score of 188 all-out in the 20th over, falling short by three runs.
Waseem pocketed the man of the match award for his match winning knock.
The second game saw tournaments maiden ton, with Sajad Ahmad slamming a 60-ball 164 as Ali Lions crushed Kari Pora Sixers in a one-sided game. Riding on Sajads whirlwinds knock, Ali Lions posted a massive score of 287 for the loss of six wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Kari Pora Sixers were all-out for just 151, suffering a 123-run defeat.
The tournament is being organised by Al-Mehdi Foundation Budgam.
