Srinagar: The policy planning group set up by the Congress party for Kashmir under the chairmanship of former Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, will hold its first meeting in New Delhi on May 18.
Congress president, Sonia Gandhi, constituted the group for Jammu and Kashmir under the chairmanship of former Prime Minister also comprises of senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member Dr Karan Singh, former finance minister and senior Congress leader, P Chidambaram, leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha, Ghulam Nabi Azad, General Secretary of AICC, Ambika Soni, JKPCC Chief, Ghulam Ahmad Mir, senior Congress leader, Nawang Rigzin Jora, senior Congress leader and former MP, Tariq Hameed Karra and senior Congress leader, Shyam Lal Sharma.
The group, formed following the continuation of fragile political and security situation in the Valley, is aimed to hold dialogue with all stakeholders and help for peace building in the state.
The group, according to the sources, was constituted after Tariq Hameed Karra, who recently joined Congress, urged the party high command to take concrete steps regarding the resolution of Kashmir issue. (KNS)
