SRINAGAR: Shezan Ahmad scored a 99 as ICS Whites beat Blues in a close fought encounter by three wickets in Islamia College of Science and Commerce Inter-Group Cricket Tournament played at college ground on Tuesday. The win confirmed Whites place in last four stages.
Batting first ICS Blues posted a score of 212 for the loss of six wickets in the allotted 30 overs. Mohammad Shahid was the highest scorer for the Blues making 85 off 63 balls while Mehfooz Khan contributed a 26-ball 28. Irfan took three wickets for ICS Whites.
Whites had some tough moments but managed to scale down the target in 28.3 overs, losing seven wickets. Shezan was unlucky to miss out on the ton, but his 70-ball 99 ensured Whites crossed the line. Amaan made 24 off 25 balls. Zubair and Yafas took two wickets each for their team.
The first semifinal of the tournament will be played between ICS Yellows and ICS Greens today.
The tournament is being organised by the Department of Physical Education of the college.
