Kulgam: The naming of an Army Goodwill School on slain army officer Lieutenant Umar Fayaz of South Kashmirs Kulgam district has not gone done well with the family saying that it would have been better if Army set up a hospital in the area on his name.
Last week, the Army said a school had been renamed after Lieutenant Ummer Fayaz-killed by unidentified gunmen while his family was also handed over two cheques for Rs 76 lakh.
Mere changing the board of the school and using the name of Umar Fayaz will not serve any purpose. If Army really want to do something then it should set up a hospital for downtrodden people living in far-flung areas. This will be the biggest tribute to the slain officer, the family members told news agency CNS adding that they cant blame anyone for his killing.
We are in a fix. The army blames militants for the killing and vice versa. The statement of Syed Salahuddin, the Hizb Chief also condemned the killing. We dont know who killed my son and without any evidence or proof I cant lay blame on anybody, Fayaz Ahmed, the father of slain officer said adding that those who abducted Umar were masked gunmen.
Fayaz Ahmed who on Sunday attended a congregation organized by political, socio-religious organization Jamat-e-Islami said that his son was religious minded who imparted Islamic education to his two younger sisters. It was on his instructions that i admitted one of my daughters in an Islamic Educational Institution in Srinagar, he said. (CNS)
