Srinagar: Inordinate delay by the Roads and Buildings department to undertake macadamization of road from Natipora to Nowgam here in Srinagar city sparked protest on Thursday.
The protesters who blocked the road near Naikbagh area alleged government has not been paying heed to their repeated pleas as the road from Natipora to Nowgam is in shambles and taking a heavy toll on the commuters.
In absence of repairs, the roads dotted with potholes and uneven surface are damaging vehicles. The dilapidated road also poses risk of accidents, Suhail Ahmed, one of the protesters told CNS.
We face problems due to dilapidated road. It has caved in at several places posing risk to commuters. It is ironical that authorities are dilly-dallying repairs and macadamization of the road, the protesters said adding that roads get water-logged after every rainfall.
